We are proud to be hosting the SSNF26 with more than 35 activities lined up, all celebrating the wonderful natural world we share on the Isle of Skye!
TICKETS GO LIVE 1ST MAY
Fancy a guided walk looking for otters, or one to look at our incredible ferns? How about a wander through Scottish rainforest while learning how nature finds its way into Gaelic names? Or how about a geology walk, a rockpool bio-blitz, a bumblebee safari, or even a butterfly wander?
Ever wondered how electrofishing is used for salmon and trout surveys, or how birds are ringed? Look out for our demonstrations of these. Or maybe get to grips with recycling beach litter rope into your own floormat, or learning the skills to get started in birding ...or maybe join a shorewatch session to spot whales or dolphins, or learn how stranded dolphins and seals are rescued. There’ll even be seakayak outings with a nature focus throughout the weekend!
Drop in to listen to our expert speakers celebrating the amazing birds of Skye, or the sounds of Skye’s nature. How about learning about species re-introductions in the Highlands, or the role of biodiversity, or wonders of the secretive corncrake! Oh and yes, we’ll have an evening film screening with Q&A too.
All this revolving around a festival hub at the wonderful An Crubh community centre and cafe, with displays and booths throughout the weekend from: Highlands & Islands Climate Hub, Scottish Entanglement Alliance, Skye Beach Cleans, British Divers Marine Life Rescue, Fishing For Litter, Amphibian & Reptile Conservation, Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme, Trees For Life, Skye & Locahalsh Rivers Trust, British Trust for Ornithology .. and more.
