Walks, Talks & Activities

At Sleat Nature Group we arrange workshops, walks and talks for all ages.

Keep your eye on the calander and posters in the local community for upcoming events.

Rope Mat Workshop

At a recent workshop hosted by Rebecca Johncocks from Shoretofloor members of the group had a trial run at making rope mats from beach waste rope that had been washed.

I'm sure you will agree they look amazing; what a fabulous way to use a throw away item.

This workshop is going to be available at the South Skye Nature Festival so make sure you book whentickets are available.

Bird Box Workshop

With many thanks to the Sleat Nature Group team we built 19 bird boxes for varous garden birds with local children and their parents.

The children had a great time using power tools (and the adults too I think) I'm sure you will agree the results were brilliant.

Nature group members have also made up extra boxes, these are for sale at Armadale stores, the proceeds of which will go  towards the shops Generator Fund.

Many thanks to James MacQueen Builders for the   generous donation of all the wood.

Invasive Plant Removal

INNS

Invasive non native species

We have on Skye a number of invasive plant species mostly imported as onamental plants during the victorian era.

Leaflets on these invasive   species are available at the     entrance to Tormore forest     along with instructions as to       how you can help us.
